Features: Not to be confused with the invasive Purple Loosestrife/Lythrum salicaria, which is from Europe and invasive in wetlands here, where it is listed as a noxious weed and not allowed for sale.
This native wetland plant has winged stems, shorter size and wider leaves than the non-native one. Makes a great rain garden plant, with clusters of light purple flowers that attract many natives including long-tongued and green metallic bees; butterflies and skippers. Does not compete well with taller plants.
