Shrubby Cinquefoil - Dasiphora fruticosa

Previously called Potentilla fruticosa.

Features: This is a fairly rare plant in Illinois, found mainly in the northeast counties of the Chicago area, where it grows in habitats ranging from hill prairies to beach ridges. It adapts fairly well to garden cultivation and is quite hardy.

It is a small shrub with attractive yellow flowers.  It provides nectar for a range of small native bees and flies.

Soil: Moist to Dry 

Height:  1.5 - 3 feet

Blooms: July to September
