Features:   This is a rare sedge in Cook County and is more common to the east, in Indiana and Michigan. Its nearly evergreen foliage is bright green and somewhat puckered, with subtle purple-brown flowers. The wide leaves are a nice contrast to most sedges and grasses and can be a Hosta replacement. It is happiest in a moist, shady woodland setting and may slowly spread by rhizomes.

Light: Partial shade to full shade

Soil: Moist

Height:  1-1.5 feet

Blooms:  May
