Features:  Individual, erect, cottony stems are often clumped together creating a bushy appearance. The dried stalks with their pearly-white heads are attractive in floral arrangements. It is salt tolerant and may be good for parkway plantings. It is a host plant for Painted lady butterfly caterpillars, who feed on it.  In folk medicine, it is used as a salve for burns.

Soil: Dry sandy or gravelly soils.

Height: 1-3 feet

Blooms: June, July, August, September, October
