Little Bluestem - Schizachyrium scoparium

Features: This quintessential prairie grass produces attractive spikelets of seeds on its blue-green foliage and gets attractive red-orange fall color.

It hosts many types of skipper caterpillar and feeds grasshoppers and beetles with its foliage and birds with its seeds, especially in winter, so it is best left standing.

Soil: Medium to dry

Height: 2-3 feet

Blooms: July to August
