Also known as Serviceberry and Shadbush.

Features: This small tree has mildly fragrant white flowers that attract bees. They turn into berries that are edible by humans, if you get to them before the birds do. They are a bit like blueberries but less moist.

A host plant for hairstreaks and moths, that also provides excellent fall color.

Light: Full sun to part shade

Soil: Medium to dry. Doesn’t tolerate wet soils
