These are in the 4" round pot.

Features: Aromatic rhizomes smell and taste like ginger. Use as ground cover with its lovely heart-shaped foliage and slow colonizing propensity. Interesting mahogany red flowers. Seeds are dispersed by ants through a mutually beneficial relationship. Listed as an alternate host plant for the Pipevine Swallowtail.

Light: Prefers light shade but tolerates heavy shade

Soil: Moist to slightly dry, rich loam

Height: 1 foot

Blooms:April to May

For an interesting story about how they are pollinated (some evidence suggests they are self-pollinated; many have thought they were pollinated by flies attracted to the flesh-like flowers): Wild Ginger Pollination
