Wild Ones West Cook
Sensitive Fern - Onoclea sensibilis
Sensitive Fern - Onoclea sensibilis
Low stock: 5 left
This is in a 4" pint pot this year, thus the lower price.
May also be called Bead Fern
Features: Fertile fronds with spores are interesting in that they are brown and bead-like and not anything like the infertile green fronds; differing from all other ferns. Only plant in its genus. Similar plants have been found in fossils from the early dinosaur ages! Its unique fronds are a great contrast to other ferns.
Light: Part-shade to part sun. Tolerates full sun in moist soil.
Soil: Medium, moist as found in woodlands, needs leaf matter. Needs protection from wind.
Height: 1.5 - 2.5 feet
Blooms: Non-blooming (not technically a 'forb' but there aren't enough ferns for their own category)
